KATHMANDU: The Nepal Army on Friday issued a rare public appeal urging citizens to reject “misleading or false” information as speculation swirls about its role in the country’s unfolding political turmoil.
In a statement released by the Directorate of Public Relations at Army Headquarters, the military said a growing number of comments, opinions and analyses have wrongly linked the institution to ongoing events. It stressed that the army has consistently communicated its positions and activities through press releases, official notes and verified social media channels.
“Given the current circumstances, various comments, opinions and analyses involving the Nepal Army have been circulated,” the statement read. “The Nepal Army has consistently communicated its positions and activities through press releases, press notes and official social media. Therefore, the public is urged not to believe misleading or false information.”
The army also asked citizens, media outlets and civic groups to coordinate directly with its Public Relations Directorate and regional headquarters for accurate information, underscoring its concern about the rapid spread of unverified claims.
