Dehradun: After Holi, Uttarakhand has witnessed a sudden change in weather, with recent snowfall and rainfall significantly increasing the cold across the state. Chilly winds from the mountains have led to a drop in temperatures even in the plains. According to the Meteorological Department, three districts in the state are expected to receive light rainfall today.

Snowfall Disrupts Daily Life, Several Roads Blocked

In the past few days, heavy snowfall in the higher regions of Uttarakhand has disrupted normal life. Major highways, including the Gangotri and Badrinath national highways, have been blocked due to snow accumulation, causing travel difficulties for locals and tourists alike. While the snowfall has posed challenges for residents, it has also attracted a large number of tourists to the hill stations, providing a boost to the local hospitality industry.

Rain Expected in These Districts Today

According to Dr. Bikram Singh, Director of the Meteorological Center in Dehradun, light rainfall is expected in Chamoli, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh districts on Monday, March 17. However, the weather in other parts of the state is likely to remain dry. In Dehradun, the sky is expected to be partly cloudy, but no rainfall is predicted for the day.

Temperature Updates

On Sunday, Dehradun recorded a maximum temperature of 30°C and a minimum of 16.2°C. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature in New Tehri was 15.4°C, with a minimum of 8.6°C. Mukteshwar recorded 16.4°C (maximum) and 7°C (minimum), whereas Pantnagar reported a maximum of 31°C and a minimum of 17.3°C.
