Dehradun: Preparations for the Uttarakhand Chardham Yatra 2025 are in full swing. In a significant update for pilgrims and tourists, the registration process for the pilgrimage will now be linked to Aadhaar, ensuring a more streamlined and secure process.
Aadhaar-Linked Registration to Begin Soon
According to the Tourism Department, this year’s Chardham Yatra registration will require pilgrims to link their Aadhaar cards. Once all necessary formalities related to Aadhaar verification are completed, the registration process will officially commence. The government has given approval for this new system, and registration will begin as soon as the final implementation steps are completed.
Earlier, the Uttarakhand Tourism Department had indicated that the online registration portal for Chardham Yatra 2025 might open anytime between March 15 and March 20. However, the latest update suggests that there could be a slight delay as the process of linking registrations with Aadhaar is still ongoing. The authorities are working to finalize the system, and once the integration is complete, the Tourism Department will officially launch the registration process.
60% Online and 40% Offline Registration
The Chardham Yatra 2025 will officially begin with the opening of the Yamunotri and Gangotri temple portals on April 30, 2025. This will be followed by the opening of Kedarnath’s doors on May 2, 2025, and Badrinath’s portals on May 4, 2025.
To ensure a smooth registration process, the authorities have introduced a mixed system of online and offline registrations. This year, 60% of the registrations will be conducted online, while 40% will be available through offline channels for those who may not have easy access to the internet.
The Uttarakhand government and the tourism department are actively working to enhance the pilgrimage experience by implementing new digital measures. The Aadhaar-linked registration system is expected to help authorities manage crowd flow, ensure the safety of pilgrims, and maintain better records of visitors.
