Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann condemned the actions of Akali leaders aimed at undermining the authority of Jathedar Takht Sahib, pledging severe consequences for anyone found guilty of such offenses.
In a statement, Mann emphasized that the Jathedar has long served as the supreme temporal authority for Sikhs. He expressed disappointment over the recent actions of Akali leaders, which he described as a “shameful” attempt to diminish the Jathedar’s standing for their own vested interests.
The Chief Minister stated that threats, casteist comments, and derogatory remarks directed at the Jathedar or his family are completely unacceptable. While Mann noted that the state government typically refrains from interfering in religious matters, he assured that any complaints received regarding this behavior would be met with serious repercussions.
“We will not spare anyone involved in this heinous act, including those using fake IDs on social media,” he declared, committing to taking “the severest of severe action” against those responsible.
