Anil Deshmukh Injured in Stone-Pelting Attack While Returning from Election Meeting Near Nagpur
Nagpur: In a major incident from Maharashtra, former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh was attacked while traveling in his car. The car was pelted with stones, causing severe injuries to Deshmukh, who was sitting in the front seat. The attack occurred when Deshmukh was returning from a political meeting near Nagpur in the evening. Deshmukh, a leader of the NCP, alleged that the attack took place on the Katol Jalalkheda road in the Katol Assembly constituency. He sustained head injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Deshmukh’s son, Salil, is contesting the election from Katol on the NCP’s ticket.
According to reports, Deshmukh had attended a meeting in Narkhed village and was returning to Katol via the Tinkheda Bishnoor road when the attack occurred. Some individuals threw stones at his vehicle near Belphata on Katol Jalalkheda road. The windshield of the car was completely shattered, and one of the windows was also broken. Bloodstains were visible on Deshmukh’s white kurta in footage from the scene. He is currently being treated at Alexis Hospital in Nagpur.
Police have started investigating the incident. The attack comes on the final day of campaigning for the Maharashtra Assembly elections.
