Operation in Kathua to Continue Until All Terrorists Are Neutralised: DIG Shiv Kumar Sharma

Katra (Jammu and Kashmir): Security forces have intensified counter-terrorism operations in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua region. According to Shiv Kumar Sharma, DIG of the Jammu-Samba-Kathua range, the mission to track down terrorists remains ongoing, with several individuals being detained for questioning.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, DIG Sharma reaffirmed the police’s commitment to eliminating the terrorist threat. “Jammu and Kashmir Police will continue its operation until all terrorists are neutralised. Our personnel are dedicated to selectively eliminating every terrorist to ensure the safety of our region. The Army is working alongside us, conducting coordinated search operations. With the international border in close proximity, residents remain vigilant and provide us with crucial intelligence, which we act upon promptly,” he stated.

DIG Sharma also expressed sorrow over the loss of a jawan during the Kathua encounter but emphasized the unwavering morale and preparedness of the security forces. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of one of our soldiers. However, our jawans are well-trained and highly motivated. We are prepared to face every challenge and will never retreat. Our forces stand ready to defend the people, and we will deliver a strong response to any threats. We urge the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activities to the police,” he added.

Security operations have been ramped up across the Kathua-Samba region, with search efforts extending to the Samba sector near the international border to secure the area. The region remains on high alert as authorities continue efforts to eliminate potential threats.

The intensified security measures follow the deadly counter-terror operation, ‘Safiyan,’ in Kathua, where four Jammu and Kashmir police personnel lost their lives while successfully eliminating two terrorists. Security forces recovered war-like stores from the encounter site.

The operation commenced on March 23 after locals reported sightings of suspected Pakistani infiltrators in Sanyal. Since then, security forces have been working relentlessly to track down and neutralise any remaining threats in the region.
