Government Spends ₹20.99 Crore, Thousands of Applications Still Pending

Shimla: The Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh-Samman Nidhi Yojana was launched by the Himachal Pradesh government to uplift economically weaker women in the state. Under this scheme, eligible women receive ₹1,500 per month as financial assistance. According to the state’s Economic Survey Report, 30,929 women have already benefited, though thousands of applications are still pending. The assistance amount is directly transferred to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). This initiative aims to help women meet their financial needs and improve their living conditions.

The scheme is specifically designed for economically disadvantaged women who struggle due to financial constraints. It covers women aged 18 to 59 years who are permanent residents of Himachal Pradesh and whose family members are not employed as government employees (permanent, contract-based, or outsourced), daily wage earners, pensioners, ex-servicemen, or military widows. Additionally, individuals associated with Anganwadi, ASHA workers, mid-day meal workers, multi-task workers, social security pensioners, panchayat and urban local body employees, public sector undertakings, GST-registered businesses, or taxpayers are not eligible for this scheme.
