Murder: Youth Killed by Bat Strike on the Head During Cricket Match Dispute in Salooni, Chamba

Salooni: In a shocking incident in the remote Pichhla Diyur Panchayat of Salooni subdivision, Chamba district, a young man was killed after being struck on the head with a cricket bat during a dispute in a match. Upon receiving information, the police arrived at the scene and took the body into custody for post-mortem, which is scheduled for Monday. The accused fled the scene after the incident.

On Sunday, a group of young men from Pichhla Diyur village had gone to Manjota to play a cricket match. During the game, a dispute broke out between Yaseen, son of Latif Mohammad, from Lodli village, and Kyoom, son of Peer Mohammad. In the heat of the moment, Yaseen struck Kyoom on the head with a bat, causing his immediate death.

The youths present at the scene quickly informed the victim’s family members. Meanwhile, upon receiving the report, a police team from Kihar Police Station rushed to the spot. After conducting a preliminary investigation, the police took possession of the body and sent it for post-mortem. Statements from witnesses at the scene are being recorded.

Meanwhile, Bheelo Ram, the Pradhan of Pichhla Diyur Panchayat, confirmed that the altercation between Yaseen and Kyoom escalated into violence, leading to the fatal attack.

Regarding the incident, SDPO Salooni Ranjan Sharma stated that further legal proceedings are underway. Additionally, a forensic team has been called to the scene on Monday to collect crucial evidence.
