Imphal, February 5, 2025 – In a significant political move, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh, along with three senior ministers and four BJP MLAs, has rushed to Delhi on a chartered flight, sparking speculations about a high-level meeting with Central leaders. The delegation’s primary agenda is expected to include crucial discussions with Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the prevailing security situation in the state, according to official sources.
Hours after the CM’s departure, PWD Minister Govindas Konthouam, Forest and Environment Minister Thongam Biswajit, and Consumer Affairs Minister L Susindro Meitei boarded the flight. They were joined by BJP MLAs Karam Shyam, Sanasam Premchandra, Kh Ibomcha, and Sapam Kunjakeshwor (Keba), all of whom are expected to play key roles in addressing the concerns raised.
Although some of the ministers have publicly stated different reasons for their trip, with Govindas mentioning a visit to Uttar Pradesh and Biswajit citing a function at the Kumbh Mela, insiders suggest that their real purpose in Delhi is to meet top officials and discuss the urgent need for improved security measures and other critical matters affecting Manipur.
The visit reflects the BJP’s coordinated efforts to ensure that the situation in Manipur remains a priority for the central government, particularly in light of the ongoing concerns over the state’s safety and governance.
