Hingoli: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during a rally in Hingoli, Maharashtra, launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi ahead of the assembly elections. Shah challenged Gandhi to praise Veer Savarkar and Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray.
“Rahul Baba, speak two good words about Balasaheb Thackeray, your ally Uddhav Thackeray’s father. Uddhav ji, have Rahul praise Veer Savarkar too, if you dare,” Shah declared.
He emphasized the election’s significance, stating, “This poll will decide whether Maharashtra follows the path of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj or Aurangzeb. Our alliance upholds Shivaji Maharaj’s legacy, unlike the opposition.”
Mocking Gandhi’s leadership, Shah said, “Rahul is like a plane crashing repeatedly. Sonia ji has tried landing him 20 times. It will crash again in Maharashtra.”
Shah also criticized Congress’s stance on the Ram temple and Article 370. “Congress obstructed Ram temple construction for 70 years. Modi ji fulfilled the promise,” he said, adding, “Rahul’s Congress dreams of reinstating Article 370, but it will never happen.”
Highlighting BJP’s recent Haryana victory, Shah dismissed Congress’s chances in Maharashtra. “Congress was overconfident in Haryana and lost. The same will happen here. The Mahayuti will win.”
Shah also addressed the Waqf Act controversy, asserting, “Modi’s government will amend the Act, despite opposition.”
He concluded by expressing confidence in the NDA’s leadership under Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis, promising a pro-poor government for Maharashtra.
The state goes to polls on November 20, with results on November 23.
