Integrated Township to Decongest Bengaluru & Boost Urban Infrastructure
Bengaluru: In a major push towards urban decongestion and infrastructure development, the Karnataka Cabinet has approved the Greater Bengaluru Integrated Satellite Township project. This world-class township will be developed between Bidadi and Harohalli in Ramanagara district, strategically located near the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway.
The 8,032-acre project, spread across 10 villages, aims to create a modern urban hub equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. The selected villages include Byramangala, Bannigere, Hosuru, K G Gollarapalya, Kanchugaranahalli, Aralalusandra, Kempaiahnapalya, Kanchugarahalli Kavalu, Mandalahalli, and Vaderahalli hoblis.
A Strategic Step to Decongest Bengaluru
To address Bengaluru’s rising population and traffic congestion, the Karnataka government is planning multiple integrated satellite townships in Devanahalli, Nelamangala, Hosakote, Doddaballapur, Magadi, and Bidadi. This newly approved Greater Bengaluru Satellite Township is a key part of that initiative.
Speaking on the development, Karnataka Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H K Patil stated,
“This project is crucial for decongesting Bengaluru and ensuring planned urban expansion. The township will follow global standards, offering top-tier infrastructure and sustainable growth.”
Land Acquisition Model & Compensation for Landowners
To ensure fair acquisition, the Greater Bengaluru Development Authority (GBDA)—an upgraded version of the Greater Bengaluru Bidadi Smart City Planning Authority—will implement a land-sharing model. Under this scheme, landowners will receive 35-50% of developed land as compensation instead of cash payments.
This innovative approach aims to:
✔ Minimize land disputes
✔ Ensure fair benefits for landowners
✔ Accelerate project implementation
World-Class Township Designed for ‘Work-Live-Play’ Concept
The new township will follow the ‘work-live-play’ model, integrating:

🌳 Sustainable Infrastructure – Smart mobility, eco-friendly utilities, parks
To ensure global standards in design and execution, the Karnataka Cabinet has approved hiring an international firm through a global tender process.

A high-level committee will be formed under the chairmanship of the Additional Chief Secretary of Karnataka. The committee will include representatives from:
✅ Urban Development
✅ Infrastructure & Planning Departments

This team will supervise project execution, ensuring transparency and efficiency.
Restructuring of State-Run Enterprises

- ✅ 34 are profitable
- ❌ 33 are running at a loss
- ⚖ 32 operate in the social sector
- 🚫 16 are inactive or defunct
This restructuring aims to improve efficiency, reduce financial burden, and optimize state resources.
