Jammu, Feb 3: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah extended high praise to the National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets from Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh for their outstanding performance during the 2025 Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path, New Delhi. Addressing a special event organized in their honor, the CM acknowledged their discipline, dedication, and the pride they brought to the region on the national stage.
The event, attended by Minister for Youth Services & Sports Satish Sharma, Advisor to the CM Nasir Aslam Wani, Additional Chief Secretary Dheeraj Gupta, and Major General Anupinder Bevli, highlighted the cadets’ achievements, including a remarkable feat by a girl cadet from J&K who commanded the all-women NCC contingent at the parade.
“A Symbol of Excellence and Unity”
CM Abdullah emphasized the significance of the cadet’s leadership, calling it a moment of immense pride. “Leading a contingent at the Republic Day Parade is no small feat. This achievement has resonated across the country, showcasing the discipline and talent of our youth,” he remarked.
He also lauded the cadets for their cultural performance, which secured third place in a national competition. “Your performance, infused with the rich traditions of our land, won hearts across the country and brought great honor to J&K,” he added.
“A Personal Connection to NCC”
Sharing his personal experience as a former NCC cadet, CM Abdullah reflected on the invaluable lessons in leadership and discipline he learned during his school days. “Although I never marched at Rajpath (Kartavya Path), my time as an NCC cadet and head boy taught me lessons that have shaped my life. The camaraderie, discipline, and teamwork ingrained in NCC remain with you forever,” he said.
“NCC: A Crucible for Character Building”
Highlighting the transformative role of NCC, he encouraged the cadets to cherish their journey. “The NCC is not just a program; it is a crucible that forges character. The values of service, discipline, and unity you uphold are needed now more than ever, as young people navigate academic, social, and personal challenges,” he stated.
He urged them to serve as role models in their communities, particularly in combating drug abuse and promoting positive societal change. “You are the torchbearers of a better tomorrow. Be the inspiration your communities need,” he urged.
The event concluded with cadets sharing their experiences from the Republic Day Camp in Delhi, reflecting on their journey, camaraderie, and the pride of representing J&K on a national platform.
