Godda (Jharkhand): Congress MP and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s helicopter was prevented from taking off on Friday due to the absence of Air Traffic Control (ATC) clearance. This incident occurred shortly after he delivered a fiery speech in the Mahagama assembly constituency, targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Adani policies.
In his address at Godda district, Gandhi accused PM Modi of serving the interests of billionaires. “Modi ji has waived off ₹16 lakh crore for billionaires, taking it from the poor. Now, Dharavi’s land worth ₹1 lakh crore is being handed over to Adani. The Maharashtra government was toppled just to grab land,” he said.
He further criticized the BJP’s stance on reservations and backward classes. “In Jharkhand, BJP reduced backward class reservation from 27% to 14%. Modi ji claims to belong to the backward class but undermines their rights, snatches land, and creates unemployment through demonetization,” he remarked.
Invoking Ambedkar, Birsa Munda, Buddha, Gandhi, and Phule, Gandhi said, “The soul of India lies in the Constitution. It is the source of our rights to water, forest, and land.” He also emphasized Congress’s commitment to increasing reservations: 28% for Scheduled Tribes (ST), 12% for Scheduled Castes (SC), and 27% for Other Backward Classes (OBC).
The first phase of Jharkhand assembly elections has concluded, with voting in 43 out of 81 seats. The remaining 38 seats will vote on November 20, and the counting will occur on November 23.
