Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, while chairing a meeting of the Himachal Pradesh Kaushal Vikas Nigam (HPKVN), stressed the importance of skill development in enhancing employment and self-employment opportunities for the youth. He directed HPKVN to implement training programs aligned with market demand to improve employability and support small-scale business start-ups.
The state government will allocate ₹25 crore to HPKVN to complete the construction of eight buildings by June 2025. The Chief Minister also instructed that HPKVN buildings near technical education institutions be handed over to the Department of Technical Education for youth training. Additionally, HPKVN has funded equipment upgrades in 67 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the state, benefiting students.
Since January 1, 2023, 38,713 youth have been enrolled in various HPKVN schemes, with 38,572 receiving training certificates and 8,630 securing job placements. To further enhance efficiency, the CM directed officials to explore the possibility of transferring HPKVN’s administrative control to the Director of Technical Education.
The meeting was attended by Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh, Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani, Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, Principal Secretary Devesh Kumar, Secretary to CM Rakesh Kanwar, Secretaries Sandeep Kadam and Rakhil Kahlon, Director of Digital Technologies and Governance Dr. Nipun Jindal, HPKVN Managing Director Gandharva Rathore, and other senior officials.
