Chandigarh, February 27 – Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Sh. Shyam Singh Rana has urged farmers to take full advantage of the Chief Minister Horticulture Insurance Scheme, assuring them that the state government is committed to protecting horticulture growers from losses due to harsh weather conditions.
A spokesperson from the Horticulture Department informed that the scheme aims to encourage farmers to cultivate high-risk horticulture crops, which offer higher income compared to traditional grain crops. Farmers registered on the Meri Fasal Mera Byora portal (https://fasal.haryana.gov.in) are eligible to enroll for this voluntary insurance scheme.
Under the scheme:
- Vegetable and spice crops are insured for ₹30,000 per acre, with a farmer contribution of ₹750 per acre.
- Fruit crops are insured for ₹40,000 per acre, with a farmer contribution of ₹1,000 per acre.
