Ambala: Haryana’s Transport Minister, Anil Vij, has recently made headlines by threatening to go on a fast-unto-death, expressing frustration over the non-compliance of his orders by state officials. Vij, known for his bold political style, stated that he would no longer attend grievance committee meetings due to the officials’ failure to carry out his directives effectively.
In a public statement, Vij expressed his dissatisfaction with the lack of action by local officers, stressing that his position as an MLA, elected seven times by the people of Ambala, entitles him to expect accountability. He vowed to take drastic steps if necessary, including undertaking a hunger strike in the same manner as farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, should it be required to resolve issues in his constituency.
Vij’s tough approach to governance is no stranger to the public. In December 2024, he made headlines after suspending the Station House Officer (SHO) of Ambala Cantt police station for not registering an FIR despite a woman’s complaint. During a public grievance session, Vij publicly reprimanded the officer, asserting, “As a minister, I give orders, and they must be followed. You are a policeman, and your duty is to register cases as per the law.”
This latest incident only adds to Vij’s reputation as a minister who does not shy away from confronting inefficiency within the administration, further solidifying his reputation as a tough leader in Haryana politics.
