The Haryana Board Class 10 Science exam is being conducted today, with 2,84,829 students appearing across the state. The exam, scheduled from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM, comes amid growing concerns over rampant cheating during board exams.
Since the commencement of Class 10 and Class 12 board exams on February 27, a total of 320 cases of cheating have been recorded so far. While Class 10 has completed four papers, Class 12 has finished five.
Cheating Incidents During History & Biology Exam
On Monday, during the Class 12 History and Biology exams, authorities detected 63 cases of cheating. In a shocking case from Nuh, a fake candidate was caught appearing for the exam in place of her sister.
Sonipat Exam Center Turns into Cheating Hub
A major cheating scandal was reported from Government Senior Secondary School in Bidhlan village, Kharkhoda (Sonipat). Unidentified youths were seen scaling the school wall, passing information to students inside. A student was caught using a mobile phone to relay the question paper to outsiders standing near the premises.
Authorities also discovered a house within 200 meters of the school, where cheat sheets were being prepared by both young and elderly individuals. Even at the main gate, arrangements were in place to supply cheat sheets inside the center. Shockingly, no security personnel or school authorities were present at the time of the incident.
Haryana Board Takes Action: Secretary & Chairman Replaced
Following widespread cheating reports, the Haryana government has taken strict action, removing Ajay Chopra as the Secretary of the Haryana School Education Board. He has been replaced by HCS officer Dr. Munish Nagpal.
Additionally, Dr. Pawan Kumar has been appointed as the new Chairman of the board, replacing IAS officer Pankaj Agrawal. Dr. Pawan Kumar previously served as the Principal of Government College, Charkhi Dadri. Meanwhile, Satish Kumar, a PGT teacher from Jind, has been given the responsibility of Vice Chairman.
Rising Concerns Over Exam Malpractices
The increasing number of cheating cases in Haryana board exams raises concerns over the effectiveness of security measures. With students, outsiders, and even entire networks involved, authorities face mounting pressure to tighten exam monitoring and ensure fair assessments for all candidates.
