Chandigarh: Haryana government has initiated steps to implement the New Education Policy (NEP). The education department will begin by seeking suggestions from universities and colleges across the state.

As per the directions of Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda, a letter has been sent to all universities, government colleges, aided colleges, and self-financed colleges, urging them to hold special programs starting from January 12, in which the Education Minister himself will participate.

The program participation is mandatory, with strict actions against those who fail to attend. The government aims to encourage active participation to ensure the successful implementation of NEP.

Key universities and their associated districts in the state, such as Kurukshetra University, Maharishi Dayanand University, and others, will organize these programs. The campaign will be launched on Swami Vivekananda Jayanti, January 12, and will focus on gathering feedback and discussions related to the policy.

This initiative aims to bring reforms in the education sector, including inclusive development, improved quality, updated curricula, and empowerment of teachers.

The Haryana government is making significant strides toward the fast implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) this year, as announced by Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda. The government aims to gather valuable feedback from universities, colleges, schools, and other education stakeholders across the state to ensure the successful execution of the policy.

Portal for Public Suggestions to Be Launched at Kurukshetra University

On the occasion of Vivekananda Jayanti (January 12), a dedicated portal will be launched at Kurukshetra University to invite suggestions from students, educationists, and other stakeholders regarding the NEP. Education Minister Dhanda emphasized that the portal would act as a bridge between the students and the policy, ensuring that the voices of the youth are heard during the policy’s implementation.

Additionally, in order to collect on-ground suggestions, instructions have been issued for installing suggestion boxes in universities and colleges across the state. These suggestion boxes will allow students to contribute their views directly and help shape a framework that improves the NEP for Haryana’s education system.

Ensuring Digital Connectivity for Students

Recognizing the integral role of technology in modern education, Dhanda further noted that every student in the state is connected with digital technology. To make the process of giving feedback more accessible, the portal will allow students to submit suggestions online from the comfort of their homes. This move will ensure that all students, irrespective of their location, can participate in shaping the education policy.

Meetings with Stakeholders Across Divisions

Dhanda explained that a series of meetings would be held to discuss the objectives and implementation strategies of NEP at the divisional level. A recent meeting was chaired by the minister in Panchkula, where it was decided that these discussions would involve principals and stakeholders from colleges at the divisional level.

As part of this initiative, a meeting was organized at Government Girls College in Gurugram, where principals of 74 government colleges from the Gurugram division and 33 colleges from Faridabad division participated. The focus of the meeting was to ensure that everyone involved in the education sector understands the NEP’s objectives and the roles they play in its successful implementation.

Preparation of a Comprehensive Plan for the Upcoming Academic Session

The government is actively working on preparing a detailed plan based on the suggestions and feedback gathered from various educational stakeholders. This plan aims to ensure that students face minimal disruptions during the upcoming academic session. Dhanda stressed that the government’s goal is to enhance the quality of education while addressing the needs and concerns of both students and educators.

In this regard, a national-level round table conference on the NEP will be organized in February. This conference will bring together experts, educationists, and key policymakers to discuss the national vision for the policy and explore how it can be tailored to suit Haryana’s unique educational needs.

Key Focus Areas of the New Education Policy

The NEP is designed to bring about a transformative change in India’s education system, focusing on inclusivity, innovation, and quality. The policy aims to ensure equal educational opportunities for all, improve teaching methods with the integration of technology, and modernize the curriculum to prepare students for the job market.

One of the key aspects of the NEP is the emphasis on digital education. Given Haryana’s strong focus on digital connectivity, the state is poised to leverage this aspect to enhance educational outcomes. The government is keen on using new teaching methods, digital tools, and curriculum updates to better equip students for future challenges.

Additionally, the policy stresses the importance of teacher empowerment through regular training and the use of modern educational tools. By upskilling teachers and integrating technology into classrooms, the NEP aims to create a more dynamic, student-centric learning environment.

The Haryana government’s comprehensive approach to implementing the NEP reflects a commitment to transforming the state’s education system. By actively involving universities, colleges, schools, and students in the process, the government is ensuring that the policy is not only effective but also relevant to the needs of all stakeholders. The fast-paced preparations and extensive consultations indicate that the state is on the right track to implement a policy that will significantly enhance education for generations to come.
