Grand celebration of ‘Aparajita – Humse Hai Gurugram’ event; female municipal employees participated enthusiastically.

The Political Observer Bureau, Gurugram, March 8: On International Women’s Day, the Gurugram Municipal Corporation launched a unique and inspiring initiative. A grand celebration of the ‘Aparajita – Humse Hai Gurugram’ event took place at Chaudhary Surendra Singh Pavilion, Tau Devi Lal Stadium, where female municipal employees, especially female sanitation workers, actively participated and showcased their dedication.
Municipal Commissioner Ashok Kumar Garg, in his address, stated that this event was organized to honor and encourage women’s achievements. He emphasized the corporation’s commitment to women’s empowerment, ensuring they play a more significant role in society. He highlighted the vital contribution of female sanitation workers in keeping the city clean while also managing their family responsibilities. He urged society to respect and acknowledge their efforts in building a better community.
Stadium Echoes with Slogans of ‘Nari Shakti Zindabad’ and ‘Swachhata Yoddha Zindabad’
At the commissioner’s call, the entire stadium resonated with slogans praising women’s strength and sanitation warriors. He expressed gratitude to everyone for maintaining discipline during the grand event and acknowledged the crucial role of sanitation workers. Addressing them, he said, “Your work is significant; without you, the city’s condition would deteriorate.” He also urged society to respect and support sanitation workers.
He thanked various dignitaries and organizations, including Progressive Federation of Trade & Industry (PFTI), Nagarro Software Pvt. Ltd., Raahgiri Foundation, United Way of Delhi, RSPL Welfare Foundation, Ek Prayas Ki Aur, Cut & Style Salon, Builder Association Gurugram, and Dream Fox Lounge, for their support in making this event a success.

Cultural Performances by Female Sanitation Workers Stole the Show
A major highlight of the ‘Aparajita – Humse Hai Gurugram’ event was the cultural performances by female sanitation workers. Through their performances, they showcased how they contribute to the nation while adhering to societal norms and responsibilities. Citizens, who had previously seen them only in sanitation roles, were mesmerized by their artistic and cultural talents. The event also included female employees from municipal offices, and they were honored with gifts from the corporation. The Municipal Commissioner presented bouquets to the sanitation workers as a token of appreciation.
10-Day Rehearsal Enhanced Talent of Female Sanitation Workers
To bring Commissioner Ashok Kumar Garg’s vision to life, preparations for the event began in late February. He expressed his desire for cultural performances by female sanitation workers, leading to a selection of 100 female workers under the guidance of Sanitation Expert Priyanka Yadav, Sunita Dhattarwal from Magic Bus India Foundation (Rohtak), and renowned Kathak artist Shobhana Jha. A 10-day rehearsal was conducted at Sector-15, Part-1 Community Center, where the workers refined their talents. Commissioner Garg personally visited rehearsals to motivate them.
Dignitaries Dined Together with Sanitation Workers, Promoting Equality
At the event’s conclusion, Commissioner Ashok Kumar Garg, Additional Commissioners Dr. Balpreet Singh and Mahavir Prasad, Joint Commissioners Vishal Kumar, Dr. Jaiveer Yadav, Akhilesh Yadav, and Sumit Kumar, CTP Sanjeev Mann, Chief Engineer Manoj Yadav, DTP Siddharth Khandelwal and Sumit Malik, CMO Dr. Ashish Singla, and representatives from various organizations, including PFTI’s Deepak Maini, SP Aggarwal, and Anshu Singla, Builder Association’s Narendra Yadav, Dream Fox’s Dinesh Nagpal, Raahgiri Foundation’s Sarika Panda, United Way’s Rajni, and Kathak artist Shobhana Jha, sat and had a meal together with sanitation workers.
This gesture promoted equality and social harmony, reinforcing the message that everyone in society is equal and should be treated with dignity. The Gurugram Municipal Corporation reaffirmed its commitment to women’s empowerment by ensuring equal opportunities in all fields. The Sanitation Workers’ Union expressed gratitude to the commissioner for organizing such an event, stating that this was a true celebration of International Women’s Day.
