Prayagraj: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Prayagraj on Wednesday to attend the ongoing Mahakumbh Mela. He is scheduled to take a holy dip at Sangam around 11 AM and perform a ritual of worshipping the Ganga. The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) issued a statement about the visit on Tuesday.
The Mahakumbh 2025 began on January 13, on the day of Poush Purnima, and will continue until February 26, coinciding with Mahashivaratri.
PMO’s Statement
The PMO emphasized that the Mahakumbh is the largest spiritual and cultural gathering in the world, attracting devotees from across the globe. In line with his commitment to promoting and preserving India’s spiritual and cultural heritage, the Prime Minister has consistently taken active steps to enhance infrastructure and facilities at pilgrimage sites.
Development Projects in Prayagraj
Earlier, on December 13, 2024, during his visit to Prayagraj, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated 167 development projects worth ₹5,500 crore aimed at improving public access, amenities, and services.
CM Yogi Reviews Preparations
Ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday reviewed all arrangements and issued necessary directives to officials. During his visit on December 13, 2024, PM Modi had inaugurated 167 development projects in Prayagraj.
As of Monday, over 37.54 crore people had taken a holy dip at Sangam, and by 6 PM on Tuesday, 71.62 lakh people had bathed in the sacred river.
