New Delhi, February 5, 2025 – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has welcomed the exit poll predictions for the Delhi Assembly elections, expressing confidence that the people of Delhi are ready for change after years of misrule by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). While the AAP has rejected the exit polls, calling them inaccurate, the BJP sees the results as a clear indication of the growing sentiment for a new direction in the capital.
As the 70-member Delhi Assembly elections came to a close on Wednesday, exit polls suggested a significant shift in voter preferences, with the BJP emerging as the likely frontrunner, surpassing the ruling AAP. Various surveys projected the BJP-led NDA to secure anywhere between 35 to 60 seats, while the AAP’s projected seats ranged from 10 to 37, and Congress was expected to struggle with no more than one seat.
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva addressed the media, asserting, “The people of Delhi made up their minds long ago that they want change. We respect the exit poll predictions, but the reality on the ground is clear—the AAP is on its way out.” He highlighted the BJP’s focus on fighting corruption and providing a corruption-free government as a key factor in the party’s surge in popularity.
Despite the AAP’s claims that past exit polls have underestimated its performance, Sachdeva dismissed these as an attempt to downplay the public’s growing desire for a shift in leadership. He emphasized the BJP’s campaign efforts in the run-up to the elections, where the party’s workers reached out to voters with a message of integrity and progress.
Exit polls, based on voter interviews post-polling, have often been a subject of debate, with actual results sometimes differing from predictions. However, with the overwhelming mood in Delhi favoring a change in governance, the BJP is gearing up for a return to power in the city after more than two decades.
The final results will be announced on Saturday, but for now, the BJP is confident that the exit polls are merely a reflection of the public’s overwhelming desire to see a new government take charge.
