Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday criticized the Delhi government for not implementing the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat Yojana, calling it the ‘Aapda government’ ahead of Delhi’s upcoming Assembly elections.
Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj hit back, saying, “Such comments are unworthy of a PM. For the past 10 years, the central government controls half of Delhi, and we manage the other half. We’ve improved the sewage system, water, and electricity.”
Bharadwaj further challenged the Centre’s contribution, asking, “What has the central government done for Delhi? Extortion calls are common, and murders happen in broad daylight. The BJP’s central government is responsible for this mess.”
He also responded to Modi’s education criticism, saying, “I feel like laughing when the PM talks about our education system. Many global leaders visit Delhi to see the schools. I invite Modi to visit them and judge for himself. It’s unfortunate that he says this on such a big stage.”
PM Modi, speaking on Friday, expressed disappointment over Delhi’s governance, blaming the AAP for the city’s worsening situation. He said, “In the last 10 years, Delhi has been surrounded by an ‘Aapda’. Keeping Anna Hazare in front, some ‘kattar beimaan’ people pushed Delhi into disaster. AAP has become Aapda.”
With elections nearing, Modi urged Delhiites to remove the AAP government and bring in the BJP. He rallied supporters with the slogan, “We will not tolerate ‘aapda’, we will remove it.”
The PM also criticized Arvind Kejriwal, saying he could have built a “sheesh mahal” for himself but chose to focus on providing homes for all. Modi accused AAP of corruption and making false promises, referencing Kejriwal’s controversial spending on his official residence.
