Umran’s bowling makes things easy for me: Arshdeep Singh

Christchurch: India’s young pacer Arshdeep Singh said that his bowling partner Umran Malik makes things easy for him and added that they enjoy each other’s company on and off the field.

Shikhar Dhawan and company are set to take on New Zealand in the third and final match of the three-match ODI series in Christchurch. India are 1-0 down and will be aiming to save the series by winning the final ODI on Wednesday. The second ODI of the three-match series between India and New Zealand was abandoned due to rain.

Umran bowled 150 km/h four times in the second ODI against New Zealand, taking the wickets of Devon Conway and Daryl Mitchell. Arshdeep and Umran made their debut in the first ODI against New Zealand in Auckland.

Arshdeep said in the pre-match conference, It is beneficial for me to play with Umran. He bowls at 155 km/h and makes things easy for me. We can share our partnership on the field and off the field as well. We are enjoying the game. Hope this continues for a long time. I don’t think my journey is going to be easy or challenging. We focus on playing as players, enjoy the process, and more about don’t think it’s easy or challenging. When we do our best, it feels good.

The 23-year-old Arshdeep dropped a crucial catch of Asif Ali in the 18th over of Pakistan’s innings against India in the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup. After this Ali took full advantage of the life donation and gave victory to his team.

Arshdeep said, People love us and our game a lot. So when we give our best, people love us and when we don’t perform, people show their disappointment. So it’s like dealing with nothing. They express their feelings because we play. Fans have the right to express their love or anger. We should accept both.

In the first match, the hosts defeated India by seven wickets. New Zealand chased down India’s target of 306 with 2.5 overs to spare in the first ODI of the three-match series at Eden Park in Auckland on Friday.
