Abu Dhabi, UAE: In a significant diplomatic encounter, President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan welcomed Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to Abu Dhabi. The meeting, held at Qasr Al Bahr, focused on enhancing cooperation between the UAE and Belarus across various sectors, including economics, investments, development, and renewable energy.

 

The leaders explored opportunities to elevate bilateral ties, aligning with the shared goals of sustainable development and prosperity for both nations. Discussions encompassed regional and international issues, highlighting the Middle East’s developments and the mutual interest in fostering a just and lasting peace.

 

The backdrop of the meeting was the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28), hosted at Expo City Dubai. President Lukashenko commended the UAE’s organization of COP 28, expressing optimism about its impact on international climate action.

 

President Sheikh Mohamed’s innovative initiative, announced during the Global Climate Action Summit, drew appreciation. The creation of a new USD 30 billion climate-focused investment fund aims to address climate finance gaps and support groundbreaking solutions for a sustainable future.

 

In a concluding agreement, both leaders affirmed their commitment to strengthen cooperation across all domains. They pledged ongoing coordination on regional and international issues of shared importance, reflecting a mutual dedication to progress and collaboration.
