Kokrajhar (Assam): Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani was finally released from police custody on Saturday. Jignesh Mevani reached Kokrajhar today after getting bail in the case registered at Barpeta Road police station.
Jignesh Mevani reached the District Congress Office after completing some remaining formalities by appearing in Kokrajhar District Jail, District Sessions Judge and Kokrajhar Police Station.
Jignesh Mevani was warmly welcomed by local Congress leaders and workers in Kokrajhar.
During this, while talking to the media, Jignesh Mevani said about his arrest that it is part of a conspiracy run by the Prime Minister’s Office. He said that the Assam Police, following the orders of their political leaders, had arrested him and brought him here.
Condemning the shoddy conspiracy to accuse in another case after getting bail in one case registered at Kokrajhar police station, arrest him in a fake case like harassment of women in the land of Mahapurush Sankardev completely contrary to the culture of Assam.
Targeting the Assam government, he said that instead of indulging in such activities, it is better to focus on solving problems like electricity, unemployment.
Jignesh Mevani thanked people of Assam for the support he received against his arrest.
It is noteworthy that Jignesh got bail from Barpeta Sessions Court on Friday itself. His release took place on Saturday morning. From where he reached Kokrajhar from Barpeta to complete some legal formalities in Kokrajhar. Jignesh will reach Guwahati from Kokrajhar in the evening. From Guwahati he will leave for Gujarat.
