Srinagar: For the second day in a row, the NIA raided various places in J&K in conjunction with its investigation into a case involving cross-LoC transactions linked to terror funding, officials said. NIA officials were accompanied by police and CRPF soldiers during the search of Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) office-bearers and members’ homes. Documents and technological devices were taken into custody.
“The case concerns the operations of members of JeI who have been collecting cash locally and overseas through donations and using them for separatist activities,” the NIA later stated. According to the NIA, the JeI has also been recruiting youth to participate in disruptive secessionist actions, and the complaint was filed suo-moto last year.
