Dehradun: The Uttarakhand government declared two days of state mourning on Sunday following the death of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar at Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital.
According to the government’s declaration, the national flag will be flown at half-mast in the state’s government offices.
During this time, no cultural programmes will be organised.
The Central Government had previously declared two days of national mourning from February 6 to 7.
Meanwhile, the final rites of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar were held on Sunday in Mumbai at Shivaji Park with full state honours.
The vehicle in which her body was transported to the stadium was decked out in white flowers and featured a large photo of her.
As the army marched by, the coffin in which her mortal remains were placed was also wrapped in tricolour.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to pay his respects for the final rites.
