Rewari celebrated the 555th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji with great reverence and enthusiasm. Across the country, the occasion was observed as the Prakash Purab (Birthday of the Guru), and Rewari was no exception, where vibrant celebrations included a Shobha Yatra, Nagar Kirtan, and special religious events. Sikhs from all walks of life came together to spread the messages of peace, love, and unity preached by Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
Grand Procession and Nagar Kirtan
On Thursday evening, the city of Rewari was abuzz with the majestic Shobha Yatra and Nagar Kirtan held in honor of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The procession began from the Gurudwara on Railway Road and passed through the main streets of the city, with devotees dressed in traditional attire. The Panj Pyare (Five Beloved Ones) led the procession, adding to its grandeur and spiritual significance.
During the procession, Sri Guru Granth Sahib was carried in a beautifully adorned palanquin, providing the devotees an opportunity to pay their respects. The event was made even more vibrant with performances by a Punjab band and a Gatka (traditional martial arts) party. Women devotees walked alongside the procession, cleaning the path in reverence, symbolizing their dedication to Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s teachings.
Religious Programs at Gurudwaras
In honor of the 555th Prakash Purab, special religious ceremonies were held at various Gurudwaras across Rewari, including Gurudwara Bara Hazaari, Kalghidhar Gurudwara, Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, and others. The day began with Shabad Kirtan (devotional singing) and distribution of Prasad (holy food) to the devotees.
On Guru Purnima, a special Kirtan session will be held at Bara Hazaari Gurudwara at 10 AM, featuring renowned Katha Vachaks (spiritual speakers) like Amardeep Jalalabad Wale and the Jatha from Jalgaon, who will immerse the devotees in devotional bliss. The event will also include a Langar (community meal) which will be served across the city, bringing people from all communities together in the spirit of selfless service.
Words of Gratitude from the Gurudwara President
On this special occasion, the president of Rewari’s Bara Hazaari Gurudwara Nanak Singh Sabha, Sardar Preetpal Mikka, extended his blessings to all the devotees. He reflected on the significance of the day, stating that 555 years ago, Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born at Kartarpur Sahib, and today, the path to Kartarpur has been reopened, allowing people from across the nation to visit and offer their prayers.
