Delhi: On September 11, 2024, Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, and Panchayati Raj, Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh (alias Lalan Singh), will launch the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kisan Samridhi Sah-Yojna (PM-MKSSY) and release the Standard Operating Procedure for Production & Processing Clusters in the Fisheries sector. The event, marking the 4th anniversary of the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), will be held at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, New Delhi. Union Ministers of State, Prof. S.P. Singh Baghel and Shri George Kurian, will also be present.
The event will witness the release of key booklets on the promotion of indigenous fish species and the conservation of state fish. Representatives from fisheries departments, PMMSY beneficiaries, fish farmers, entrepreneurs, and other key stakeholders from across the nation will participate in the hybrid event.
Significant projects will be announced under PMMSY, including productivity enhancement, post-harvest infrastructure, and value chain augmentation initiatives. The event will also highlight national priority projects for 2024-25, with a focus on digital portals, climate-resilient coastal fishing villages, and fisheries clusters.
Since 2014, India has seen a transformation in the fisheries sector through initiatives like the Blue Revolution and PMMSY, with an investment of ₹38,572 crores. PMMSY, launched in 2020 with a budget of 20,050 crore, has revolutionized India’s fisheries by improving productivity, technology, and infrastructure.
