The rains accompanied by winds and hailstorms led to uprooting of trees in several parts of the city, causing traffic snarls and damaging properties

Heavy rains accompanied by gusty winds lashed parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Monday, leading to uprooting of trees, power outages and causing damage to properties in several parts of the city.

At least eight flights were diverted to Jaipur, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad and Dehradun due to the inclement weather.

Several parts of the city experienced hailstorm, stalling traffic.

Delhi Police tweeted that a 50-year-old man from Jama Masjid area died after a balcony collapsed on him in the aftermath of the hailstorm and rain.
