Political Shake-Up in Kosli: Bikram Thekedar Backs Congress Candidate, Deals Blow to BJP

Rewari: In a significant political turn just four days before the elections, BJP candidate Anil Dahina from the Kosli constituency faced a major setback when former minister Bikram Singh Thekedar announced his support for Congress candidate Jagdish Yadav. Bikram Thekedar is set to publicly join the Congress party at a rally on October 2, organized by Deepender Hooda, raising concerns about potential losses for the BJP in the Kosli region.

Bikram Singh: Once a Loyal Supporter of Rao Indrajeet

Bikram Singh Thekedar was known as a close ally of central minister Rao Indrajeet Singh. In the 2014 assembly elections, Rao played a pivotal role in securing a BJP ticket for Bikram, leading him to victory and eventually a ministerial position. However, after some time, differences emerged between them, resulting in Bikram’s removal from the ministerial post. Following this, he served as a legislator. Despite attempts to secure a ticket in the 2019 elections, Rao blocked his candidacy, yet Bikram remained with the BJP.

Support for Laxman Singh

In the 2019 elections, Bikram fully supported BJP candidate Laxman Singh Yadav, contributing to Laxman’s significant victory. After falling out with Rao, Laxman established good relations with anti-Rao faction leaders like Dr. Sudha Yadav and Bhupender Yadav, and expected a ticket this time. However, due to Rao’s influence, Bikram was again denied a ticket and the party nominated Anil Dahina instead. After the ticket announcement, Bikram held a workers’ conference indicating his rebellious stance but later subdued after receiving directives from party leadership.

 Former Rivals Join Forces

Bikram Thekedar had previously defeated Jagdish Yadav in the 2014 elections by a margin of about seven percent. His political ties with Jagdish have historically been adversarial, much like his relationship with Rao. The public support from Bikram for Jagdish, who is opposing Rao’s candidate, poses a significant threat to Anil Dahina’s campaign. Additionally, disgruntled Congress leader Anil Palhawas has ramped up his efforts to support Jagdish, actively participating in rallies.

 Strengthening Jagdish Yadav’s Position

Jagdish Yadav already has a strong personal base in the Kosli constituency. With Anil Palhawas now backing him, the two leaders are intensifying their campaign efforts. Their supporters are working diligently to ensure Jagdish’s victory. The sudden shift of Bikram Thekedar from the BJP to supporting the Congress candidate has started to appear as a major disadvantage for Anil Dahina. The strategy laid out to secure Anil’s win now seems to be backfiring against Rao’s faction.
