New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the countrymen on Ganesh Chaturthi. He tweeted and said that the blessings of Lord Shri Ganesha always be with us. Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated across the country. People will start worshipping by establishing Ganpati Bappa in their homes. Devotees have gathered in various temples across the country since morning to offer prayers to Bappa. Bappa’s made pandals remain the centre of attraction.
The first aarti was performed on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi at the famous Siddhivinayak temple in Mumbai. Apart from Siddhivinayak, a huge crowd of devotees gathered for the celebrations of Ganesh Chaturthi from Lalbaugcha Raja Pandal in Mumbai.
Sculptors in Raipur have made an idol of Ganesha using special items. This idol remains the centre of attraction for the people. The 10-day long Onam festival has started in Kochi today. Lord Ganesha is worshipped in the Ganesh temple located in Tekdi, Nagpur. Ganeshotsav will end on Anant Chaturdashi.
Meanwhile, the Karnataka High Court has ordered that Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated at the Idgah ground in Hubli-Dharwad. The High Court dismissed the petition challenging the permission for the Ganesh Chaturthi festival at the Hubli-Dharwad Idgah ground. The High Court, while allowing the Ganesh festival in Hubli Idgah, said that Ganesh Chaturthi can be celebrated there. The Karnataka High Court heard this petition late on Tuesday night. The High Court upheld the order of the Dharwad Municipal Commissioner, which had permitted to hold Ganeshotsav at Hubli Idgah ground.
Justice Ashok S Kinagi has said in the judgment that this property belongs to the Dharwad municipality. Anjuman-i-Islam was only a leaseholder for 999 years at a fee of Re 1 per annum. The order of the Municipal Commissioner was challenged by Anjuman-e-Islam in the High Court. The Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation had decided to allow the installation of a Ganesh idol at the Idgah ground here. Earlier in the day on Tuesday, the Supreme Court refused permission to celebrate the Ganesh Chaturthi festival at Idgah ground in Bengaluru and ordered both the parties to maintain the status quo.
