New Delhi: November 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed admiration for the courage and teamwork exhibited by rescuers during the Silkyara tunnel operation, where laborers were successfully rescued after being trapped for 16 days. In a statement, PM Modi emphasized the resilience of the trapped workers, wishing them well and good health.
“The success of the rescue operation in Uttarkashi is touching everyone’s hearts. To the friends trapped in the tunnel, your courage and patience inspire us all. I wish you good health,” PM Modi shared on X.
He acknowledged the families’ patience and courage, expressing satisfaction that the rescued workers would now reunite with their loved ones. PM Modi commended everyone involved in the mission, stating, “Their bravery and determination have set an amazing example of humanity and teamwork.”
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, along with Union Minister of State General (Retd) VK Singh, met the rescued workers. After 16 days of relentless efforts, locals celebrated outside the Silkyara tunnel, distributing sweets to mark the successful rescue.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari expressed relief and happiness, describing the rescue as a well-coordinated effort by multiple agencies. He acknowledged the challenges faced and the significant contribution of various departments, emphasizing the tireless and sincere efforts that led to the successful operation.
“The exact breakthrough time was 7:05 pm. Uttarakhand CM, Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, and Civil Aviation Gen VK Singh were present,” said Harpal Singh, Project Head, Zoji-la Tunnel.
