New Delhi: The Allahabad High Court on Thursday is to consider a petition to reopen 22 closed rooms at the Taj Mahal.
Rajneesh Singh, a BJP youth media in-charge, filed the petition before the Lucknow bench, requesting that the Archaeological Survey of India investigate the 22 closed doors in the Taj Mahal to determine the presence of Hindu deity idols.
The petition requested that the ASI form a fact-finding committee and submit a report.
The petition also cited claims by historians and Hindu groups that the monument was an old Shiv Temple.
Some Hindu groups and reputable Sants claim this monument as an old Shiv temple, which is supported by many historians and facts, but many Historians believe it was built by Mughal Emperor Shahjahan.
“Some people believe it be Tejo Mahalaya @ Taj Mahal is one of the Jyotirlings, or outstanding Siva Temples, according to the petition.
The petitioner, however, claims that the Centre has refused to reveal details about the restrictions within the Archaeological Survey of India-managed heritage site in Agra.
