Rohtak: Jailed Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has been granted parole for one month. A senior official gave this information on Friday. Singh has been lodged in a jail in Haryana’s Rohtak since his conviction in rape cases in 2017.
A senior police officer of Rohtak Jail said, “He has got one month’s parole and will come out of jail on Friday.” Earlier in February, the Dera chief was given leave of three weeks.
The Dera chief is serving a 20-year jail term for raping two female disciples at his ashram in Sirsa. Dera Sacha Sauda has its headquarters in Sirsa.
He was convicted by a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Panchkula in August 2017. He is lodged in Rohtak’s Sunaria Jail. Sources said that the Dera chief is likely to visit the Dera Sacha Sauda ashram at Barnawa in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat district.
