New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will inaugurate the Defence Ministry’s first program ‘Invest for Defence’ on October 20, at the Defence Expo, the world’s largest defence exhibition, in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
The defence exhibition, which will till October 22, will highlight the needs of the armed forces and the policy reforms undertaken by the government in the defence sector. Its goal is to promote Indian industry as well as foreign investment in the country, so that maximum indigenous production can be done.
According to the Defence Ministry, Defence Expo, a defence exhibition focused on water, land, air and homeland security systems, will feature Indian companies as well as foreign institutional investors and venture capitalists, besides L&T, Adani Defence, Bharat Forge, Saab, Airbus, Lockheed Martin etc. The event will see a panel discussion between industry stalwarts and the leadership of the Defence Ministry and the Armed Forces. This will be followed by a quiz session in which participants can ask questions to the panelists. There will be Business to Business (B2B) negotiations, involving both DPSUs and foreign OEMs.
The five-day Defence Expo will have business days from October 18 to 20 and then be open for public display on October 21 and 22. The event will be held in a four-venue format for the first time. The opening ceremony and seminar will be held at the Mahatma Mandir Convention and Exhibition Centre. Seminars will be conducted during the event in a hybrid (both online and offline) format, which will be broadcast across the world. Prominent international and national experts from the defence and aerospace sector will be the speakers. The details of these seminars are available on the website and mobile app of DefExpo-22.
Seminars were also organised by leading Industry Associations, Think Tanks, Indian Defence Public Sector Institutions, Service Headquarters (SHQ), Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Directorate General of Quality Assurance (DGQA), Ministry of Civil Aviation and State Governments. is planned to be done. Issues such as export, financing and investment in defence start-ups and MSMEs, space technology manufacturing, self-reliance in defence R&D, future automated technology for air dominance, etc. will be discussed in the seminar.
Defence is all set to showcase its indigenous products at the 12th edition of the Expo to be held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat from October 18-22. HAL’s involvement will focus on technical excellence and indigenisation initiatives. There will be an ‘Indigenisation Exhibition Stall’ at HAL-2 for the active participation and interaction of Indian industry partners, which will be inaugurated by Dr. Ajay Kumar, Secretary, Defence on October 18. The stall will showcase over 200 imported items that are planned for indigenisation with Indian private industries.
