Hamirpur: Drawing parallels between previous governments of other parties and the current Bharatiya Janata Party government in the Centre and Uttar Pradesh, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated on Sunday that no BJP minister has been accused of corruption.
“Previously, ministers were accused of corruption, but can anyone say that any of our ministers has been accused of corruption in Delhi or UP?” Rajnath Singh stated this at a rally in Hamirpur, Uttar Pradesh.
“The kind of development we want will not happen as long as there is corruption,” he added.
Rajnath Singh was making a veiled reference to the corruption allegations levelled against the Congress-led subsequent UPA governments at the Centre and the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh before the BJP took power at both the Centre and the state.
Before speaking at the rally, Singh paid his respects at Swami Roti Ram Maharaj’s Samadhi Sthal (cemetery) in Hamirpur.
The 403-member Uttar Pradesh Assembly will go to the polls in seven phases on February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27, March 3, and March 7. The count of votes will begin on March 10. (ANI)
