New Delhi: Narcotics Control Bureau seized 50kg Heroin, 47kg suspected narcotics, 30 lakh drug money in cash, cash counting machines and other incriminating material from a residential premises in Jamia Nagar, Shaheen Bagh on Thrursday.
The seized material was hidden in bags, bagpacks, jute sacks, etc. Heroin is traced back to Afghanistan and the money is suspected to be have been transferred through Hawala.
Sanjay Kumar Singh, Dy. Director General of NCB, in his statement to media elaborated about the one of the biggest hauls in recent times.
He wrote, heroin was packed in packings of Flipkart. One Indian National has been arrested. During the investigation, it was found that an Indo-Afghan syndicate in Delhi NCR or neighbouring states is connected to the case, as they have expertise in manufacturing heroin locally. This syndicate smuggled drugs through various legitimate goods via maritime as well. Heroin is later extracted from those goods by the syndicates in India with the help of Afghan nationals.
Several raids were conducted and are still going on to bust the entire network. The syndicate was found to be connected with drug traffickers of entire North region including states of Punjab, Haryana, UP, Uttrakhand and Delhi. Further investigation is going under progress.
