Lucknow: Eidgah Imam appeals not to do ‘Qurbani’ in public places

Tribune News: Lucknow’s Imam Maulana Khalid Rasheed Firangi Mahali has urged people not to perform ‘Qurbani’ in public spaces during Eid-Al-Adha. He emphasized the importance of offering Namaz in designated places such as Eidgahs and Mosques rather than on the streets. Firangi Mahali also discouraged the disposal of waste from the sacrifices in public areas. On Eid-Al-Adha, devotees nationwide participated in prayers, with notable congregations in Srinagar and Jaipur. In Delhi, heightened security measures were implemented near Jama Masjid, ensuring cleanliness and the presence of around 1,000 district police personnel. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi extended Eid-al-Adha greetings, emphasizing the values of togetherness and harmony. Eid Al-Adha, or Bakra Eid, marks the end of the Hajj pilgrimage and is celebrated globally as a festival of sacrifice, symbolizing Prophet Abraham’s devotion to God. Festivities include reconciling with family, fostering connections, and commemorating shared joy and peace. The date of Eid-Al-Adha varies annually due to the Islamic lunar calendar, reflecting cultural diversity in celebrations worldwide.
