What is ‘Agneepath’ scheme?
In a radical change in the decades-old defense recruitment process, the government on Tuesday announced ‘Agneepath’ scheme for recruitment of soldiers in the Army, Navy and Air Force, under which the soldiers would be recruited on contract basis for a short period of four years. .
Under the scheme, about 46,000 soldiers will be recruited in the three services this year. The eligibility age for the year 2022 selection will be between 17 and a half years to 23 years and they will be named ‘Agniveer’.
