LOS ANGELES: Actor J.K. Simmons recently shared that his initial assumptions about “Whiplash” director Damien Chazelle were quite different before they met.
Simmons, who worked with Chazelle on the 2014 psychological drama “Whiplash,” which won three Oscars, initially imagined Chazelle as an experienced, sophisticated figure like Antoine Fuqua. This was based on the script’s detailed understanding of jazz. However, he was surprised to find that Chazelle was actually a young, curly-haired director.
