Is monkeypox now posing a greater threat in India as well? After two examples occurred, centre released recommendations.

Coonoor: Two monkeypox cases have been reported from Kerala, after which an alert has been issued in 14 districts. At the same time, the central government has issued guidelines for airports and ports.

Cases of monkeypox have been seen increasing rapidly in many countries around the world and now it has started falling to India too. The second case of monkeypox has been reported in India. On Monday, the second case of monkeypox was confirmed in Coonoor, Kerala. After the matter came to light, State Health Minister Veena George informed us that the second patient is a 31-year-old youth. Earlier on July 14, the first case of monkeypox was reported from Kerala itself. After two cases came to light, the central government has now ordered strict screening of all international passengers at ports, and airports.

In Kerala itself, there are two infected cases while Kerala Health Minister Veena George said, ‘The infected person is a 31-year-old youth and has been admitted to the Government Medical College at present. His condition is stable now and he has been kept under observation.

Earlier in Kerala itself, on July 14, a 35-year-old man who had recently returned from the UAE was found infected with monkeypox.

The Center sent a team to Kerala the Center also sent a team to cooperate with the state authorities in implementing public health measures. Since then, the state government has issued an alert in all 14 districts and started help desks at all four airports.
