In a significant setback for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) ahead of the upcoming February 8 general elections, Imran Khan, the founder of PTI and former prime minister, faces a major hurdle. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has dismissed Khan’s nomination papers for two crucial national assembly seats – Lahore (NA 122) and Mianwali (NA-89). The rejection, based on various grounds, including Khan’s conviction in the Toshakhana case and objections to the proposer and seconder not belonging to the respective constituencies, poses a significant challenge for PTI’s electoral prospects.
