Chandigarh, January 8 – The Haryana Government has taken a significant step towards improving living conditions for underprivileged families by allocating a sum of over Rs. 3.96 crore to 496 beneficiaries under the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Awas Navinikarn Yojna. The initiative, spanning from April 1, 2023, to December 31, 2023, aims to provide financial aid specifically for house repairs.

An official spokesperson shared information, emphasizing that citizens interested in availing this government assistance for house repairs can check their eligibility criteria and conveniently apply online. The application process is facilitated through the ‘Saral Haryana’ portal.

The Social Justice and Empowerment Department (SEWA) administers this program, offering Rs. 80,000 in financial assistance for house repairs to families falling below the poverty line (BPL). The amount is provided as a lump sum and is directly transferred to the beneficiary’s registered and Aadhaar-linked bank account.

All BPL families residing in Haryana are eligible for this scheme. To benefit from it, applicants must be permanent residents of the state and have their names listed in the BPL ration card. The application form is available for download on the Haryana SCBC website at https://haryanascbc.gov.in.

For successful application processing, it is imperative to have the form verified by the Sarpanch of the village or the Municipal Councilor in the city. Required documents include family ID, ration card (for BPL cardholders), bank account details, residential certificate, caste certificate, house registry/fard, Parivar Pehchan Patra, income certificate, a photograph of the applicant in front of the house, and any one of the following: electricity bill, water bill, stove tax, house tax, or proof of estimated expenditure on house repairs. For further details, applicants can contact the District Welfare Officer’s office at the local Mini Secretariat.

Eligibility for the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Awas Navinikarn Yojna dictates that applicants must be permanent residents of Haryana, listed on the BPL ration card, with an annual family income not exceeding Rs 1.80 lakh. The house for which assistance is sought must be in the applicant’s name for at least 10 years, requiring repairs, and should not have received any previous grants or funds for repairs from other departments.

This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to uplift underprivileged families and improve their living conditions through targeted financial support for essential housing repairs.
