Ghana Reports Nine Confirmed Cholera Cases in Greater Accra Region

Accra: Ghana’s health authorities have confirmed nine cases of cholera in the southeastern Greater Accra Region, as announced by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) late Monday.

The GHS reported that samples from patients in the Ada East and Ada West districts tested positive for the disease. The first case emerged at a health facility, where a patient exhibited symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain shortly after attending a funeral in the Ada East District.

As of October 11, a total of nine confirmed cases have been reported across both districts. The authorities have implemented precautions to contain the outbreak, including contact identification, tracing, and daily active community case searches.

In light of the outbreak, the GHS has urged the public to adhere to strict hygiene practices and consume only well-cooked meals to prevent further infections.
