Pro-Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh has been declared a fugitive amid the fierce search operation over him. Confirming Singh’s ‘fugitive’ status, Jalandhar Police Commissioner Kuldeep Singh Chahal informed that Singh’s vehicles have been seized and some gunmen have also been nabbed. “‘Waris Punjab De’ chief Amritpal Singh has been declared a fugitive. His two cars seized and gunmen nabbed, legality of their weapons are being checked. Further probe is on,” Chahal said. Meanwhile, Amritpal Singh’s father Tarsem Singh, narrated about the search operation that was conducted at the fugitive’s residence in Amritsar. Informing about the search, Tarsem Singh also said that the police should have arrested Amritpal Singh the time he left the residence. “We don’t have correct information about him. Police conducted searches for 3 to 4 hours at our house. They didn’t find anything illegal. Police should have arrested him when he left from the house,” Tarsem Singh said. Search for Amritpal Singh is currently one of the biggest operations that is being handled by the national agencies along with the Punjab Police. In the midst of the operation, mobile internet services were also restricted in several districts of Punjab. Amritpal Singh has been in the eye of the storm ever since the Ajnala incident left the country shocked over its unfolding. He has been accused of fueling the fire of separatism in Punjab with pro-Khalistan sentiments.
