New Delhi: Delhi’s Karkardooma Court will hear today (Monday) the case registered against five accused, including Shahrukh Pathan, who pointed a revolver at a policeman in the Maujpur area of North-East Delhi. Additional Sessions Judge Amitabh Rawat will conduct the hearing.
During the hearing on July 30, journalist Saurabh Trivedi, who had photographed the revolver, recorded his statement. Saurabh Trivedi could not be cross-examined. Saurabh Trivedi had recorded his statement on May 7 also. On December 24, 2021, the court framed the charges against the accused. The court had framed charges under sections related to attempted murder, rioting, and being part of an unlawful mob. Apart from Shahrukh Pathan, the accused against whom charges were framed by the court include Salman, Gulfam, Atir, and Osama. During the hearing, all the accused were told to face trial, stating their innocence.
Shahrukh was arrested on 3 March 2020 in Shamli, Uttar Pradesh. The Delhi Police had recovered his revolver from his house itself. Police also recovered three cartridges from his house. Shahrukh’s mobile phone was also recovered by Delhi Police. During the Delhi violence, the photo of Shahrukh pointing a revolver at Head Constable Deepak Dahiya also became quite viral. Let us inform you that at least 53 people were killed and about two hundred people were injured in the violence in February 2020.
