New Delhi, Sep 10, 2024: Defence Secretary Shri Giridhar Aramane will co-chair the fifth meeting of the India-Philippines Joint Defence Cooperation Committee (JDCC) in Manila on September 11, 2024. The meeting will be co-chaired by Mr. Irineo Cruz Espino, Senior Under Secretary from the Ministry of National Defence of the Philippines.
The visit aims to strengthen bilateral defence cooperation between the two nations. Shri Aramane will also engage with key officials of the Philippine government.
This meeting holds special significance as India and the Philippines mark 75 years of diplomatic ties and a decade of India’s Act East Policy. The JDCC, established under a 2006 defence cooperation MoU, has been a key platform for fostering strategic collaboration, including mutual efforts toward self-reliance in defence production.
The fifth JDCC meeting marks an upgrade to Secretary-level leadership, following the fourth edition held in New Delhi in March 2023.
