Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief J P Nadda addressed a rally in Bhojpur, Madhya Pradesh, asserting that the Congress is now synonymous with corruption, familism (pariwarvad), and dynasticism (vanshvaad). Nadda highlighted the BJP’s focus on development, progress, and safeguarding citizens’ rights.
He took a swipe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, questioning his understanding of Hindu traditions by stating, “Someone says I am Janeu Dhari. He doesn’t know how to wear Janeu,” referring to the sacred thread worn by male Hindus during the “Upanayana Sanskar.”
Nadda criticized the Congress’s historical indifference towards the construction of the Ram Mandir, alleging that during their governance, they deemed Lord Ram as imaginary. He contrasted this with the BJP’s commitment to building the temple, with the inauguration scheduled for January 22.
Mocking the Congress’s current state, Nadda suggested telling them on November 17 that their new address is ‘Lapata’ (missing), emphasizing their alleged focus on corruption.
Earlier, Nadda characterized the Congress’s governance as a ‘laapata model’ (missing model), citing deficiencies in water supply, development, electricity, and roads during their tenure. He contrasted this with the BJP’s initiatives, highlighting the Sambal Yojana restarted by the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government.
With Madhya Pradesh gearing up for polls on November 17 and vote counting scheduled for December 3, the political landscape is poised for change. The state witnessed a shift in power in 2020 when Jyotiraditya Scindia and 22 MLAs switched allegiance to the BJP, resulting in the fall of the Congress government and the return of Shivraj Singh Chouhan as chief minister.
