Patna: As Chief Minister Nitish Kumar convened a conference of all Janata Dal (United) MLAs and MPs on Tuesday, stoking rumours that the party may sever its alliance with the BJP, it appears that Bihar could experience a political crisis like Maharashtra.
The destiny of the state’s ruling coalition will be decided at the conference convened by CM Nitish Kumar, according to sources. In the next 48 hours, there could be a significant political upheaval in the state that is currently dominated by the JD(U)-BJP.
Tensions increased when former union minister RCP Singh, who had left the IAS 12 years prior to join the JD(U), announced his retirement from the party he had led for a year and a half.
The letter from the party leadership asking for an explanation regarding charges of corruption was served to him hours before he resigned.
The BJP and the Janata Dal-United partnership came back under fire after Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar chose to skip the NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting on Sunday, which was presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
